RAFTING: NATURAL SPORT IN NORTH SUMATRA



SUNGAI BINGEI
Tidak jauh dari kota Binjai, terdapat satu lagi lokasi wisata Arung Jeram Sungai Bengei. Dari medan hanya membutuhkan satu jam perjalanan dengan mengendarakan sepedah motor. Sungai Bingei merupakan salah satu icon wisata yang dikenal jernih airnya, banyak jeramnya, indah pemandangannya dan dekat dengan kota Binjai dan Medan. Aman bagi pemula dan sesuai bagi anda Membuat pengarungan lebih menantang dan seru. Apalagi menjelang finish pengarungan di sudahi dengan meluncur di bendungan setinggi hampir 9 meter, dengan kemiringan bendungan mencapai 45 derajat. Dijamin momen ini akan memompa adrenalin anda lebih kencang lagi.
Sungai Bingei yang terletak di Camp Site Bingei Rafting di Alam Jaya Baru kawasan Namusira-sira, Kabupaten Langkat, Kota Binjai, Sumatera Utara. Untuk sampai di lokasi ini Anda harus menuju Medan terlebih dahulu kemudian Binjai, dan diteruskan sampai Namu Sira-sira. Waktu yang diperlukan untuk mencapai lokasi hanya 1,5 jam perjalan. Perjalan dapat menggunakan kendaraan umum ataupun kendaraan pribadi.
Walaupun hobi yang satu ini sangat mengundang resiko, namun suatu kepuasan tersendiri ketika keluar jeritan-jeritan akibat terhempas, tenggelam atau bahkan terluka karena derasnya arus sungai. Tapi jangan khawatir Perjalanan rafting dilakukan selama 45 menit, peserta disediakan guide yang juga akan menjadi Captain di perahu karet mereka nantinya. Segala perlengkapan safety untuk rafting seperti helm, dayung dan pelampung disediakan dan dipakai terlebih dahulu di camp, sebelum rafting, peserta akan di berikan pembekalan tentang kegiatan rafting, terutama hal-hal yang harus diwaspadai dalam kegiatan rafting. Hal ini demi keselamatan peserta selama kegiatan rafting. Perserta juga dapat berenang di air yang jernih dan mereka bisa melakukan kegiatan menantang, yaitu melompat dari tebing ke sungai yang tingginya sekitar 6 meter.

SUNGAI WAMPU
Sungai Wampu merupakan sungai paling populer untuk arung jeram di provinsi Sumatra Utara.Sungai ini mengalir melintasi dua kabupaten, yaitu Karo dan Langkat sepanjang lebih dari 140 kilometer. Hulunya berada pada dataran tinggi Karo dan bermuara di kawasan Suaka Margasatwa Karang Gading, Langkat Timur Laut. Pada kawasan tertentu masyarakat memberi nama yang berbeda - beda untuk Sungai Wampu. Masyarakat di Karo menyebutnya Lau Biang, lalu ada yang menyebut Lau Tuala. Sedangkan untuk bagian hilir di Langkat dinamakan Wampu. Agak ke bagian muara, masyarakat menyebutnya dengan Ranto Panjang. Rute utama untuk berarung jeram biasanya dimulai dari desa Kaperas di Marike sampai dengan jembatan Bahorok di Kab. Langkat. Jarak tempuh kurang lebih sepanjang 22 km, waktu tempuh normal 4 - 5 jam. Rute pengarungan yang lebih panjang dapat dimulai dari desa Rih Tengah, kab. Karo. Hanya saja perjalanan menuju ke desa ini cukup sulit, disamping harus melewati jalan off road selama 3 jam, harus dilanjutkan pula dengan trekking selama 3 jam. Tetapi jangan khawatir karena anda akan disuguhi pemandangan yang indah di titik awal pengarungan

SUNGAI ASAHAN
Sungai ini mengalir dari mulut Danau Toba melewati Kab. Asahan dan berakhir di Teluk Nibung, Selat Malaka. Jeram sungai asahan terkenal liar dan deras. Topografi daerah ini bergelombang membuat jeram - jeram di sungai asahan ini menjadi sangat variatif, berombak tinggi, dan panjang. Titik awal dapat dimulai dari Sampuran Harimau yang terletak di desa Tangga di Kab. Asahan dan titik akhirnya di desa Bandar Pulau. Jeram terbesar dan terganas adalah rabbit hole yang mempunyai grade V.

SUNGAI BAH BOLON
Sungai sepanjang 14km ini melewati beberapa desa,yaitu : hulu Desa Tinokkah, Marjaji, Sipispis, Silau Padang, Marjanji dan hilir Desa Buluh Duri. arus sungai tergolong aman bagi pemula,dgn beberapa jeram-jeram yang telah diberi nama sesuai arus nya,misalnya jeram ROLLER COASTER. jika melewati jeram ini kita serasa duduk diatas roller coaster.
Sungai sepanjang 14km ini menawarkan berbagai pemandangan alam, mulai dari tebing-tebing yg menjulang tinggi yg diselimuti oleh hutan-hutan tropis yg masih alami dan sepanjang tebing ini kita masih dapat melihat banyak sekali ditumbuhi anggrek batu yang sudah jarang kita lihat dimana pun. sesekali kita dapat melihat tebing-tebing ini mengucurkan air yg cukup deras melalui celah-celah batu tersebut dan tentunya air tersebut dapat anda minum langsung.
Asik mendayung Ditengah perjalanan kita akan menikmati air terjun dgn ketinggian 10meter yang dimana airnya jatuh tepat disamping aliran sungai yang kita lewati dan kita merasakan percikan air yang jatuh tepat diatas perahu kita, tidak hanya itu saja banyak suara burung yang berkicau serasa menemani perjalanan kita sepanjang 14km menuju finish.

Geographically, Dairi regency is located in the highland of northwest of North Sumatra. Dairy regency borders Southeast Aceh in the west. Most of Dairi regency covers the highland and hills and every area has different climate because the differences in Topology. It is located approximately 130 km from Medan and can be reached within 3 hours by bus.
Among the interesting tourists attractions found in this region are: Taman Wisata Iman or Garden tour of faith, Lake Toba, the top of Sidiangkat, Lake Sicike-cike, Kempawa, lake above a mountain, Lae Une Waterfall, traditional ceremonies. However, The most well known tourist attraction is Taman Wisata Iman or Garden Tour of faith where  various houses of worships are available.

8 OLDEST BUILDINGS IN MEDAN



1. Medan City Hall
Medan city Hall is one of the oldest buildings in Medan. It was built in 1908, and was used for the first    time by Baron Mackay in 1918 as Medan mayor. This building is worth due to its interesting architecture. The first bank in Medan was “De Javasche Bank”., which is now called Indonesian Bank. This bank started to operate in 1907 and was responsible for withdrawing the circulation of Spanish money and converting them into Dutch currency.

2. Maimoon Palace
Maimoon Palace
In the past, this palace used to be called Sultan Deli Palace but today, It’s known as Maimoon palace. It was built by Sultan Mahsun Al Rasyid and the whole construction of this palace was totally completed on August 26, 1888. It was inaugurated on May 18, 1891. This palace used to be the administration office till the end of second the world war. Up to now this palace is occupied by Sultan Perkasa Alam Azin and his family. Ging back to the history of the Sultan Deli and the Maimoon Palace, there is an interesting legend called “Meriam Puntung” (cannon butt) and visitors still can see it in a small building located in front of the palace ground.

According to the legend, there was a princess called “ Putri Hijau” who was very beautiful and her beauty  made king of Aceh fall in Love with her. The king asked her to marry him, but unfortunately he was rejected by the princess, in his anger, he attacked the kingdom of Aru, which was led by his brother, Mambang Yazid, who had just been chosen to become king after his father’s death. The king of Aceh won the battle.  

3. Grand Mosque
The legacies left by Deli Sultan are the Maimoon Palace and Al Mashun Grand Mosque. This Mosque is till used up to now. The ornaments and the materials were imported from Italy and German. There are a lot of tourists from various countries visiting this mosque. Yhis mosque was built by Sultan Makmun Al Rasyid in 1906 and was completed on 19 September 1909. It is the biggest and the most artistic mosque in North Sumatera Province with Moor architecture.

4. Oldest Church
Immanuel Church, Medan
One of the oldest Protestants churches in Medan is Immanuel church which is located in the city center of Medan and to be exact, it is on Pangeran Diponegoro street No 25-27. This church was erected in 1921 and up to now it is still used by the Christians as a place of worship. Another old church is the Catholic church which is located on Pemuda street which was built in 1929.

6. Tjong A Fei Mansion
Tjong A Fie (1860-1921) was a businessman, captain and banker who originally came from China and was successful to build a big plantation business in Sumatra, Indonesia. He employed more than 10.000 people. 

Due to his success, Tjong A Fie had a very close relationship with the some prominent people in Medan including Sultan Deli, Makmun Al Rasyid and the Dutch colonial government to replace his brother to become Tionghoa captain. Tjong A Fie was very honored and respected because of he had very played a very important role both in business and politics.His businesses covered plantation, palm oil, sugar mill, bank and the railroad company. In addition to that, his generousit, regardless of ethnics and religions, has made him become very respected person.


7. Rahmat International Wildlife Museum

Rahmat International Wildlife and Galery ia a museum collecting preserved hunted animals and it belongs to a businessman named DR.H Rahmat Shah. Rahmat Shah is a professional conservation lover. He travels throughout the world with the mission to conserve, to prevent extinction of the animals as well as to save the animal habitat. It is claimed that this is the only one museum in Asia which collects widlife ranging from the smallest to the biggest wildlife in the world. The collections are obtained from the legal hunting from death animals kept in the zoo of the world., the donation from people as well as the legal purchase from different countries. This museum offers safari night package, the exhibition room designed with safari night concept, completed with the lighting and sound effect create the atmosphere of safari night.


8. Shri Mariamman Temple

Shri Mariamman Temple is located in Zainul Arifin Street and it’s the oldest temple in Medan, which was built in 1884 by Indian Hindus with the other worshiping activities such as Depavali Event, paddies’ harvest.
